Second week in Boiceville

Thursday afternoon was cooking day in German club

  How many students came to cook Pfannkuchen ?
          52 students ate about 150 pancakes!

Saturday October 23- trip to NYC
{a}
 
The day began with a visit to the German consulate
{a}
 
Looking down at the United Nations from the 23rd foor of the consulate was our first view of the NYC area.

We walked through Manhattan in order to see some famous sites like the Chrysler Building.

It's a beautiful fall afternoon.
Time for a walk through Central Park.

so we don't block
the NYC skyline in the photo.

Bavaria may have
 the Neuschwanstein Castle,
but Central Park has a small castle too.
It makes the German girls feel
like they're at home!

The evening was spent
in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Many in the group enjoyed relaxing
by the Temple of Dendur.
 
{a} The evening ended with dinner in the Time Square.
 
On Thursday the presentations began
{a}
 
Susanne told us about sports in Germany
{a}
and Simone entertained us with 12 different songs ranging from Heavy Metal to yodeling music.

 The first day at school began with a welcome breakfast
{a}
 
Our school principal, Mr. Edelman  welcomed  the students and received some thank you gifts from the German group (a Lebkuchen Herz and chocolate!)

The rest of the school day was spent in classes meeting other students and getting to know the American school system.
 
First day was a success! Everyone is healthy and happy
 
After spending 2 days in Boston, the group arrived at our school on Monday evening. There they were greeted by their partners.

{a} After the welcome dinner in the school cafeteria, all students went home with their host families where they will spend the next 18 days.
